Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 PRO Review
Before talking about the phone lets see what else comes with it. You will not find headsets, protective cover or tempered glass in the box, but you can buy a good headset from MI official Store. The SAR value as mentioned on the box is 1.256 W/Kg. The handset has Made in India branding. When you unbox the retail box of the Mi Redmi Note 3 you will get:
- Handset
- MicroUSB to Standard USB cable
- Power Adapter 5V/ 2A
- User manual
- Sim Removal PIN
- Warranty Statement
Mi Redmi Note3 Look and Design
The phone looks premium and stylish. It has a full metallic body which makes it robust. The design is sleek and it has round edges which make it comfortable, easy to hold and grip as well. We did notice little bit creepy sound while holding it tightly, but yes its very less.
It has 3 capacitive buttons that are backlit. The volume buttons and Power Button are placed on the right while the SIM slot makes it place on the left. It is 8.49 mm thick and weighs 165 grams. The display visibility in direct sunlight is above the average.
OS and UI
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro runs on Android 5.1 64-bit Lollipop with MIUI Global 7.3 layer on the TOP. The User Interface is easy to use and very responsive. The MIUI ROM offers lots of functionality and add-ons to the OS. Switching between application is buttery smooth.
Display, Camera, and Audio
It has 5.5 inches Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels display. The response from the touch is good and so are the viewing angles. There is no official info on the Display protection glass (like corning Gorilla Glass 3 / Dragontrail) , but the display is scratch resistant to some extent. It is always better to install Protective Glass, Screen Guard or Phone cover to prevent the damages caused by unwanted drops.
The camera on the Smartphone is pretty decent, especially the rear one which is of 13MP resolution with f/2.0 aperture. The images come out from the camera are crisp, accurate and sharp. The front camera is of 5MP which is above the average. Although the hardware is capable of recording and playing 4K Ultra HD videos, you are limited to record only 1080p Full HD from the official camera app. The Audio quality is good and loudspeaker is loud.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Gaming and Performance
The Mi Redmi Note 3 Pro is powered by Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650 64-bit 1.8GHz Hexa-Core processor integrated with Andreno 510 GPU. The performance is top notch compare other smartphones under this price bracket. Multitasking is smooth and we didn’t face any lag while using it.
Gameplay is also very smooth, we played Modern Combat, Asphalt 8, Need For Speed without any problem. Most of its competitors (Pepsi P1s, LeEco Le 1s) lag while Playing “Dream league soccer” but we played with smoothly on it.
Benchmarks:
- Antutu Benchmark v6.2.1 : 65075 (with some apps opened in background)
- Quadrant : 28840
- Nenamark : 60fps
- Multi Touch : 10 points
Connectivity, Sensors, and Battery
The connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, DUAL SIM with 4G connectivity (nano + micro) and FM radio. We noticed WiFi disconnects automatically after some for unknown reasons (but not always). There is Infrared Sensor (IR Blaster) on the top with which you can control your Appliances like TV, AC remotely via the phone itself. It is also equipped with Fingerprint Scanner which is quite fast on recognizing the fingerprints and unlocking the phone. Other sensors includes Proximity, Rotation Vector, Step counter, Step Detector, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, Gravity and Gyroscope.
The Redmi Note 3 has 4050 mAh nonremovable battery. The battery backup is good. It can easily last for about one and half day with moderate usage. It takes 2:30 hrs to fully charge the device from 0 to 100%.
Xiaomi Redmi Note3 Issues, Pros and Cons
The device heats up after heavy usage while charging and sometimes for unknown reasons. The charger and the phone both becomes hot while charging.
Pros : Performance, Camera, Display, Design
Cons : Heating issue
Its main rivals are Xiaomi Mi5, Samsung Galaxy J7, Lenovo K4 Note and Moto G4 Plus.
Verdict
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the best smartphone that you can purchase under 9999 RS price tag. It is great for playing gaming smoothly without the annoying lags. It is value for money smartphone from all aspects. It is good to go with the 3GB + 32GB ROM version if you are heavy gaming user.
